Mama Bear's update from Longmont, CO

I'm freezing here in Colorado, but the sun has shined most days and we had only an inch of snow last night.

Derek's really getting good on his drum set.  He's in the school band, takes private lessons and was really raising the roof the other night for Grandma Gloria's private recital.

On Thursday morning I went with Katie to her  Boot Camp.  She really puts those ladies through some tough all around exercises for one hour.  I tried about two minutes of the warm up and then "got outta there" and  spent the time walking round and round inside  the building (too cold outside).  She does the classes twice a week and none have died yet.

When the family got out the WII, Justin did pretty good on the drums, Derek was on the guitar and Katelyn and G Gloria took turns belting out the vocals.  It was fun but I've got a long way to go to get a good score.
Yesterday's schedule was soooooooo full of activities that Katie did Katelyn's hair while we were rooting for Brayden at his basketball game.  He had a great game and showed promise for a career in the hoops field - or at least getting a scholarship.  Unfortunately, they lost by a few points.

It was Katelyn's special day when her dad baptized her.  Craig and Carolyn drove in on Friday night at attend the happy occasion.  Katie made lost of yummy desserts for all the friends who came.

Later we all went to see the LEGO Movie and out for dinner.   I choose to eat movie snacks for my dinner.

It's Justin's  turn to cook dinner tonight and of course it's baking Sunday so he's doing an apple pie so that I can have some (without the the crust of course).  I'll be flying back to G.V. tomorrow where the beautiful warm weather awaits.

GREEN VALLEY UPDATE

Hyun's 18 now and "he da man"!!
We'll watch as he grows into that moniker....

Yesterday we spent a beautiful morning in a very long line to tour the new temple in Gilbert (lovely area) and  had lunch before Taryn relinquished her crown to another deserving outstanding teen.  Thousands have been through the tour and more will also I'm sure before next week when it is dedicated.

Got this great photo of Hannah in her new Letterwomans jacket -  back in the dark ages we gals weren't able to get these jackets...glad to see we're making some progress..........

Got another quilt done along with lots of hats to donate to Vietnam Vets
here in Tucson.  There's such a need and dad always wanted to give to
them so I have continued that tradition for 8 years.  They make the rounds once a month and pick up in front of house so that is really nice for me.

I'm also making lots more dresses with Grandma Zella's material and will donate most of them to a needy orphanage in Tucson.  They were thrilled
with those I gave them last year.

I've also kept up my goal of walking about 2 miles nearly everyday for my BBC (brain, bowels, and cholesterol).  Last week I was walking down on the golf course paths were the carts used to go.  This course in back of me went out of business as other nicer ones south have taken over.  It was an interesting view seeing my hacienda from the back, but I can't get my heart rate up  there as there are too many valleys and hills along the way.

I had a contractor come down and put new weatherstripping around my front door and it's not as cold in house now.

Some of you who were visiting with me around table at Christmas might also be interested in knowing that at church last week Lyle asked me out for dinner.  He lost his second wife last May to Alzheimer's and I had helped out with her for several years.  When I take homemade bread to missionaries every other week I also include a loaf for him.   The only problem is that he will turn 90 when I turn 75, but he is in great health and very active ..... too back he's not 15 years younger... but still....

I've been here 6 weeks and am still having vertigo every single morning when I get up.  Can't figure it out, but at least I'm not banging into doors and walls anymore like I did at first.  Normally it passes in about 10 minutes so it's not debilitating for me.

What are the rest of you doing???????
