Weigh In Tuesday

Last week I couldn't find anyone to weigh me at work so I went two weeks without an official weigh in.
Good thing because I was also pulling 12 hour shifts on half of my already 6 days a week.
I didn't ever feel like working out, just sleeping.

2 weeks later I am 184 at home & 186.4 at work! Yeah!!!!!! I am still watching what I eat and apparently it still works!

175 here I come......

Green Valley Renovation

Terry (handyman) begins repairing the wood facing on front wall due to damage from water rot. He thought it was going to be an easy fix, HA! But many days later and lots of #@*&%+% ( I could hear him) he got the job done to my satisfaction and certainly earned his pay (he wants my recommendation to others in neighborhood).

With that tree there it was much easier to cut, prime, treat, and paint on driveway rather than on ladder.

The wood wall behind the tree looked like this due to extreme heat and monsoon rains so it had to be replaced by two handymen a lot stronger than me.

Roof fence scraped, primed and painted so golfers couldn't see the AC/furnace unit from golf course (might not hit that hole in 12. White to match inside and Mesa Tan on outside to match rest of house (HOA is very fussy down here. Disintegrated bocks beneath utility lines were replaced, treated, painted and installed on roof.

Glad it's done and hope that's it in the repair column for awhile.

I called Doyle yesterday on his 75th birthday and he's recovering fairly well although he and Linda haven't gotten very much sleep as he's been having panic attacks every night (common in 30% of post ops). He certainly didn't sound like himself and we talked about dad quite a bit.

Atticus is not liking radiation treatments and is having negative side effects to the Prednisone they have him to try to shrink tumor. Becky returned home last night and Bethany is taking two weeks vacation to fly down to help next week.

Have been walking 2.2 mi each day for the past two weeks - 75 degrees today. Am still at 91.o

Random Christmas photos part 2

Cookies and milk for Santa. Oats, carrots and water for the reindeer.

Rowan really got into opening gifts this year.

Dylan was way excited when he opened his new Mario bros. PJ's from Grandma Gloria.

Both boys got light sabers for Christmas.

Jesse and Jim. Two good looking men.

Like our family, Jesse and Jeremy grew up with Legos (their mom still has all the legos from their childhood).  We got Dylan a cool set where he can make a dinosaur or sea monster. Jesse had as much fun (maybe more) building them with Dylan.

Do you think Rowan liked his ice cream?

Random Christmas photos part 1

Making graham cracker houses.  Rowan really enjoyed eating the candy decorations.

Making cookies for santa and ourselves.

Jesse calls this face "The Reba"

More cookie making.

Watch out Jesse.

The boys love their new socks

Fun in the snow

Rowan was helping drive the sledding shuttle.

YUM!

Pile on daddy is a fun activity.

The boys love sledding.  We had to go up into the mountains and sled on the road as that was the only snow we could find over Christmas.

I wasn't very good at steering, but had fun anyway.

Weigh In Thursday

I know it's been awhile since I did this. I knew I was not eating well over the Holidays- which happens- and didn't dare to weigh myself.
I finally did and found myself at 194. Time to get back to it...

At work I saw an ad for "10 weeks to a New U" and something about weekly weigh-ins. I signed up, got a pamphlet on how to change some eating patterns and was told I would be weighed on Tuesday and that they have a short support meeting on Wednesdays @ 3. (when I am already in working)

We were told to choose a goal of how much we want to lose in 10 weeks. One pound a week being good, two great but to keep expectations reasonable.
I was thinking 10- one pound a week. Then I thought maybe I could lose two a week a couple times and figured 12. Then since 13 is my birthday number, I decided on a 13 pound weight loss for the 10 week period ending on March 20.
Tuesday morning I weighed myself at home knowing I would be weighed in at work later. I weighed 190. Yeah!
At work with my work clothes on I weighed in at 192.1. That seems right. Clothes are said to weigh a couple pounds right?
So, 13 pounds will be 179 on March 20. That means I will have 3 weeks and a few days to loose that final 4 pounds to reach my goal of 175 by my birthday!

I have to say, letting you all know how much I weigh is one thing, but there is definitely something about a public weigh-in that motivates you to make sure that number is less the next week!
If this program does nothing else than that for me, it will be enough! Here we go.....!

Weigh-In Monday

I helped celebrate this darling 10 year old redhead's big day after she had enjoyed a sleepover at her home with some of her friends. You should have seen the size of pieces she cut from her birthday cake. I even tried a small piece w/o frosting. Congrats gal, you're into the two digits now.

Taryn competed in the AZ Irish Lass teen competition and I was sooooo proud of her that my buttons were busting.

Her dancing was supurb and I'm not at all biased, her onstage interview was excellant as she was very composed for a 13 year old. We were hoping for a big upset, but this was her first year in this comp and an "old" 17 year old won it.

We heard later that the scores were very close and one judge didn't deduct any point from her scores.

My favorite answer was when judge asked her where her favorite place was to go. I choked up when she said "to see my grandma in Utah and to see her fresh green grass and delicious strawberries".

(I'd given her double points for that answer). I'm so proud of the way she represented the Howells family as well as her Irish ancestors (on Sunshine's side) and I hope you all are too. Aunt Reba told her to "break a leg". Congrats and Good Going!!!!!

While waiting the competition to begin, Sunshine kept busy fitting dresses on two of her customers. I didn't get a photo of the other cute little blond, but both seemed so happy to be getting a darling new outfit for dance.Weight is still at 91.0

For some reason Gija thinks that me doing aerobics in the living room is a game. He started chasing my feet today.
