I Really Blew It!!!

Last Saturday evening when heading to bed the thought came into my mind "remember to change the clock ahead"!!! Yup, you guessed it, I lost a perfectly good hour's sleep for nothing!!!!! And since I hadn't felt good all day on Friday I was just feeling a little better Saturday and could have used that hour. So, of course I arrived at church (with the ward council) and was so miffed at my own stupidity. It wasn't all bad though, I spent the hour reading the scriptures so that was a good thing after all. I still can't believe I did that (no, I'm not losing it! I think.)

Last week Sunshine brought me a whole bag of darling materials that her friend had given her. Yipee, I'll be making more cute quilts to add to my "Grandchildren's Wedding Quilts Closet".

On Tuesday morning neighbor Merna invitied a few of us "snowbirds" over for refreshments and fun talk before we all fly the coop and head back north. One neighbor had a heart attack on Sunday night and won't be heading back any time soon. I love this darling Texas Laurel tree behind them. Wish it would grow in Providence.

Have any of you checked Cindy's blog lately. Atticus is doing pretty well, but it was bitter sweet news that he has been chosen as the latest recipient by the "Make a Wish" foundation. He wish is to go to Disney World which he is so excited about. Unfortunately, he has no idea what this award means in his life.

I think I've received all the dates for two other reunions in my summer plans as well as our family reunion beginning 21 Jul. The Hansen Cousin reunion is 8/9 June in Logan and my 39th high shool reunion is 23 June in Logan and I've been asked to be on he program (no I'm not going to sing).

I was so proud of my Irish granddancers, Taegan, Ffiona and Haedyn Thurs evening when they performed for the R.S. 170th Birthday international dinner. They did great and were a HUGE HIT with the crowd. Taryn (still letting her painful hip heal per doctor's orders of not dancing for awhile), organized her siblings routines and was their M.C. Good Going Gang!

Boy, are we getting the monsoons today! I got drenched getting into school. Fortunately it wasn't yesterday or my Tucson family would have been drenched while marching in St. Pat's Parade and performing on stage afterwards. I was sorry I missed it - dizzy in shower and then later when I was in car driving to meet them. I got as far as freeway entrance and head dizzy, felt wierd, etc. and I turned around and carefully drove home and recovered most of day.

National Honor Society

Tonight Taryn was inducted into the National Honor Society. Here she is lighing her candle.

Taryn had the honor of not only being selected to join but she was also the youngest inductee at her school ever. She is also the only Freshman to ever be inducted.

She was considered so early because she has credits equal to that of a mid-year sophmore, her record of service, her leadership skills and her grade point average of 3.9.

She recieved a NHS medal, and a certificate. We are so proud of her.

After the cerimony there were refreshments and lots of time for friends, most of which are in NHS & Odyessy with Hyun & Taryn.

Hyun was the Proud brother watching his little sister. Hyun and Taryns Odyessy of the Mind team qualified for states and will be competing to go to Nationals at the end of the month.

Saturday Update

It's a good thing that when I was sick all day yesterday and lying down I wasn't doing so on this new hammock. The winds were so voracious that they toppeled the whole thing over. Good neighbor, Jack, was able to put it right again this morning.

I'm feeling much better today, in fact, good enough to make delicious cookies for all my neighbors and to take to missionaries tomorrow.

A week ago I felt so good about helping a nice couple in their late 80's. Martha has alzeheimers and goes nuts when Lyle is not around her. Since he needed to have a cat scan done at hospital in Tucson I rode up there with them so I could visit with her while he was in with techs and then doctor. I was so glad to give them this service as I surely appreciated it when someone came to my aid with Dooie. I'm not sure how much longer Lyle is going to be able to care for her though as she's fallen twice in the last week and he struggles in getting her up. I do not look forward to "old age"!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of old age, I called Aunt Connie on her 101 birthday last Monday. She is doing great and it showed in her voice. Her memory is still good also and she wanted to know about all of you.

I am getting used to my new microwave and how much more power it has than the old one. I don't have to cook popcorn for 6:00 anymore.

Last Sunday Brooke, Sunshine and family came down for dinner and Family Home Afternoon. We ate out on patio and it was delightful. Hyun saw that my back gate needed repair and took care of it and Brooke installed two new light switches for me. So nice the have handimen not too far away.

In the past several weeks I've finished a quilt top, 16 blocks for another quilt, and just about done with a denim bedspread for the Providence den. I've also finished a cute afghan and more baby quilts and hats. I'm giving one of the quilts to the YW in our ward for a fund raiser they're having in April.

Can't believe day light savings time is here already - I wonder how many more times "they" will keeping moving it? I'm holding steady at 90.0
