Hannah 16

Here is Hannah and her friends at the Powder Puff game.  The new "Fearsome Foursome"

R U ready 4 some football!!!

"Sixteen Candles" la-la-la-la
And she's not "Burning Down the House" Justin!!!

Hannah is ready to give Granny a ride in her new wheels.  A Blue 2006 Hyundai Sonata.  They're going to cruise McHenry Ave just like Modesto Native George Lucas portrayed in his American Graffiti.  (By the way folks, Mr Lucas is Downey High most famous alumi.)

MERRIMENT IN MODESTO

I've been here in Modesto for a few days watching Hannah's activities and helping her celebrate her 16th (never been kissed???????) birthday.  Probably not true!!!

She'd already for her Powder Puff football game against the powerful Senior team.
The weather has been great, not as hot as usual.

Hannah, in center of photo, on line and ready to rumble.  We were so proud of her as she played nearly the entire game.

The Downey H.S. football players were good sports taking on the role of "cheerleaders" and had fun entertaining the huge crowd in attendance for this school fundraiser.  As you can see they are in their "Itialian Tuxedos".

Unfortunately the Senior girls were too much for the Juniors as they won the game.
The next afternoon Hannah and doubles's partner Savannah took on Gregori H.S. ladies in their tennis competition at the Downey H.S. courts.  It was so fun to see her compete in person and loved to see her kill the ball when she was at the net.  She was disappointed with the outcome as this was her first loss with the team.  But she played great and a 6-1 record so far is outstanding.

I'm heading back to Providence this afternoon, have a looooooong layover in San Fran and won't get home til 1:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Dylan's missing tooth

Dylan pulled out his first loose tooth at school today.  So cute!  The school put it in an envelope so it made it's way home safely.

DAMAGED AND DEAD

My sad looking trees.                                                                           Remember the beautiful Rose of China tree dad and I planted out front?  Unfortunately it is dead!    When I called my tree trimmers to stop by so we could decide what I needed to have done this fall with all my trees and bushes, Chad gave me the bad news.  It looked beautiful in May but some type of fungus took it down and I could cry.  So it will have to be removed.
Last Wednesday evening friends and neighbors came to get down and take home those beautiful white peaches that everyone raves about.  When I returned from Tucson two more branches had broken off making the total damage of four limbs lost.  Chad will do all he can to save what's left for next year, but we'll see.

So the only peach tree left with fruit is on the three year old start from the one dad cut down many years ago because the peaches came on so late that they froze before we even got to eat them.  Since all my fruit trees have produced about 3-4 weeks early this  year it will be nice to finally find out if they're any good.  Since it's a  young start (abt 6 feet high) there aren't more than a lug full.  Thank goodness!  I'm thankful for them but tired of canning them and jam thus giving a lot away.  Wish I could share with you other four families - Holly is getting her fill.

It was Ffiona's turn to bring hamster, Oreo, home for the weekend so the cute little guy wouldn't starve and be lonely.  She and Haedyn have had fun playing with him when he'd not eating.  They were not allowed to bring him downstairs or Rose and Shadow would find him just right for a tasty lunch themselves.

I borrowed Brooke's 42 mpg Hyundai to drive to Green Valley to check out the hacienda and to see if the pr emergent grass prevent or I'd sprayed on back patio last Feb had worked.  Yea! there wasn't much between the bricks and less work for me this Nov.  The monsoon's have been in full swing this summer and I still had 6" in my rain gauge.  I visited with neighbor, Barbara, for 45 minutes before I could finally get away.  It was the first time I have been in her home since dad and I moved there 9 years ago, but she let me in as I had to use the bathroom and didn't want to have to turn the water on and off.

Grand kids are waiting for me to play games so I'll blog again soon.

Hi all,  I'm here in Tucson for Haedyn's special day.  I flew down on Thursday and Haedyn was baptized and confirmed by Brooke yesterday afternoon.  Then using his new grill Brooke grilled for family dinner before he and Sunshine went out for some dancing at an event for which she had done lots of work on the dresses for many hispanic girls at their "coming of age" celebration.

Hyun and Taryn were getting over the stomach bug when I arrived and last night Taegan and Haedyn joined them in a barfing contest.  While they were resting, Hyun, Taryn, Ffiona and I played Mexican train.

I've been feeling okay during this visit after my visit to the ER two weeks ago (thanks to Holly who took me in and stayed with me).  Doctors there and follow up visit on Tues of last week said the shortness of breath and tightness in chest was probably due to a lung problem, but after more tests on Tues doc can't quite figure it out yet.  I've used an inhailer to see if it would help, but haven't felt too much relief until Thur.  So far so good down here though.  To be continued....
