HUGE BUMP IN THE ROAD

On late afternoon on 4th of July south of Pocatello, ID, Justin and Katie's previously reliable minivan had had enough and blew her top (er, rather radiator, gaskets, water pump, etc) and had to be towed to Logan.  Uncle Ryan and Grandma Gloria (driving 30-40 mph to Tremonton) helped with rescue of family while Justin rode to Logan with Mr. Tow Man.  Had to wait until Saturday morning to have radiator installed which allowed further diagnosis of sick car.  J/K spent lots of time online searching for other options in the preowned Toyota van category.

Blonds helped Aunt Holly wash her dirty car and Justin, Katie, and Drew helped Grandma Gloria with a few things.

Justin was able to shoot a ball in bucket

after he had figured out that this

was not a very professional

golfers stance he had tried earlier.  Good Going, son, you're a fast learner and an excellent athlete!!!!

Katelyn entertained us with bucket drums and there are no blond girls jokes to follow.  Good Going, Katelyn - you show promise!

Games and cards entertained us during evening hours and after a dry spell HollySue came alive and creamed us one hand after another.  The table raucous was noted by downstairs resident  Ryan as he listened to all the fun while his wife slept.  Due date -  2 days.   Not only was Justin getting peeved at his poor hands, but Katie and Gloria woke up and soon we gave Holly a run at the finish line.  We all were able to take the victory lap several times around the house.

When Justin and Katie received the news that it would cost thousands to repair car, we spent the rest of Saturday shopping for another preowned.  Found a beauty in Layton but it was too late to buy a hitch or rent a U-haul to take the four bikes home.  So those two put their heads together and got all bikes in the car.  I couldn't believe it and dad would have been proud as he was a master packer.  Holly stayed with kids all day - took them out to eat lunch, and for shakes and then pizza at night.  Then she let them use her Wii so they think she's the greatest!

Here they are on Sunday morning ready to leave.  They had a smooth ride all the way except that poor Katelyn got car sick in Logan Canyon (like Rebecca did with us) and threw up all over her and seat.  So I guess the car has really be initiated now.  They made their deadline of getting Drew to Scout Camp this morning and be ready to entertain two separate family friends one after another during this week.  Good Going, you did it!!!

  1. Oh that was so nice of Katelyn to christen the new family van! How thoughtful.

It wasn't just an afternoon of electronics that made the day pleasant. Every time I got them something (lunch, shakes, pizza) they were very good at thanking me. I didn't even prompt them :)

Crazy Vacation! and I didn't gain a single pound. Oh Yeah! Somehow I burned off all that sugar.

Bang was fun. Bring it at Christmas k?

  2. Thanks Mom for all your help. And thanks to Holly for watching our kids while we scrambled to find a van when we were all supposed to hang out. You guys are awesome!
