FRUITS OF MY LABORS

Aha, I finally figured out why the image icon wouldn't work. My error, not the blogs. These are a few of my spartan apples off the tree by the deck and they are one of my favorites varieties. All the spraying I did this year really paid off - only a few worms in them.

Just for your perspective if you haven't seen this low acid variety, the smallest one at bottom is size of a normal full size tomato. Also these tomatoes are orange when they are ripe - so yummy!

Weigh-In Wednesday

First of all, Happy 12th birthday to Taegan yesterday. Wow, where did those years go?????

I've been so busy since I returned from Hamilton on Sunday. I knew a hard freeze was coming this week so I've been working like crazy. I picked all the remaining cucumbers, grapes strawberries and beets in ground then pulled the cuc vines out and piled them for removal. I've done a lot of pear/apple topping which I eat a lot of. I've done 7 quarts of apples, picked the huge ripe tomatoes that are low acid then covered the plant which still had some green ones on it. Glad I did as it got down to 23 last night. Today I've picked a lot of apples and I froze them for yogurt, pies and cakes. I also made R,R and I some yogurt today, poured orange lollis for trick or treaters, and made Holly an apple pie.

Ryan did a super job preparing the new raspberry area on north side garden. I was thrilled when I arrived home and saw that he really went the extra mile with this project. He cut and took many butternut squash to garage and pulled all the vines out. Holly's coming over tomorrow to help tie up raspberry stems, etc and then Ryan and I will transplant all those raspberries starts to their new place in garden. The high yesterday and today was 49 - quite a change from the lovely low 70's of Sun and Mon. Oh well, winter's coming and we snowbirds will be flying south.

I've tried to add photos of my tomatoes, but icon won't work. It's a good thing I wasn't having my official portrait taken in Hamilton because some baggage handier (assumption) must have thought it was a long cylindrical bomb and removed it from my luggage. Jesse nor Rebecca own a curling iron, so I looked terrible. I just finished making a claim with Delta.

I weigh a nice round 90.

Here is another one

Lets try again.

This is Jesse as Holly.

Trying to see what is up with Holly's settings.

Pumpkin decorations

This year our pumpkins escaped a vicious butchering because Katie wanted to try and decorate them on the outside. At first I was against this until she told me we could make pumpkin pies later if the pumpkins remained intact......that's a good enough reason for me!

More dresses...... Sunshine sews like a crazy lady!

Here are the dresses I completed since the last set in September....... been a little busy...... seeing them all together is a little overwhelming. hard to believe I've done do many in the last 7 weeks

I made this dress 2 years ago, but styles have changed so I made her a pretty new skirt.

This is one of my favorites this month! she got first place last weekend in it!

Made this one 1 year ago, but it also needed an updated skirt - she also placed 1st!

This one is a "tennis skirt" like a cheer skirt with hot pink between the pannels

Finished this one today & sent it to CA to compete in LA tomorrow! cutting it close ther- hoping it fits just right!

This one competed in Scotland at their Nationals 2 weeks ago.

This is the smallest one so far! she's a tiny 6 rd old!

This one she designed all by herself. she knew exactly what she wanted! not bad for 9yrs old! :)

Playtime at local children's museum

On the continued tour of Katie's family Heidi and her kids came to visit and we went to the kids museum to play!

When I type first then add a photo this happens, but if I use right align then I can type before photo so that works out well.

Do-over Thursday

First off, why am I not a member of this blog? It never lets me comment on anything because I am not a member and I am not listed with the other members of this family blog. What do I hafta do to become a member???? I've looked all over this site trying to figure it out.

Do-over. I have failed.  I got stuck at 190lbs. Now I am at 194. I could cry.  All that effort to drop and literally no effort and I put it back on.
Why? Ummm, made some bad food choices and was not active at all.  The packaging machine on my line was down for two weeks to have a new glue system installed. That means that I only made colored crackers for line 5. ( I am on line 3). So, for the past two weeks I only worked 3 days a week instead of my normal 6. So my normal daily work activity was cut in half. Then of course when I wasn't working I sat on the couch and read books. Pleasurable but not very active. (I did manage to get through the first 5 books of the 20 book Patrick O'Brian Aubrey/Maturin series.)
Also when I am not working I tend to eat more. So I ate alot. Just sitting and eating.
So now I call a do-over and will, well, do it all over.
Here we go....

P.S. I am still getting whipped at words with friends by Jdot and Taryn.
Raining Seeds is my favorite PvZ mini-game. Way better than angry birds.

Trial and Error

Henry has grown a lot since this photo was taken and night before last when Jesse and Rebecca had gone to bed he and Zeke (newest cat) must have thought I was a new cat loving member of the family and snuggled up to me and Zeke put his head on my lap to nap. You cat lovers should be soooooo proud of me as I just let him do it for awhile until I went to bed.

Okay now, to continue with my testing of how to insert photos and write up. When I posted yesterday I could not add message to side of photo when I posted all three photos at once. The only remnant that Jesse has of his beloved yellow beetle is a miniature one that he keeps on his book shelf. As I continue to experiment with this I cannot type text on either side of this photo.

Weighin Wednesday

Hi y'all,
I'm here in "cool" Hamilton, MT with Reba, Jesse and boys.  Today we've played games, put puzzles together while daddy and mommy worked outside on things that need doing before a contractor puts the new siding on the house.  It's been enlightening to see the remnants of that horrific fire, talk to a neighbor who called the fire department in time to save the home and see all the progress Jesse has made in the recovery process.  After lunch Rebecca, Rowan and I went to Dylan's Kingergarten class to serve as aids to the very busy Mrs. Bullman.   I had fun at the art table preparing haunted houses for a Halloween game coming up next week.

My weight is 90.5  Mama Bear

Wednesday Weigh-In

Here's Brooke spraying the Spartan apple tree several years ago and this

summer Jesse helped pull the hose so I could spray again. Spraying is a pain, but it really does help in keeping that codling moth out of the fruit. I can't believe my bounteous harvest this year. The apples and the pears are loaded and I'm spending lots of time freezing and bottling like a good little grasshopper does.

However, today I had a disaster (well, it was when it happened). I bottled 7 quarts of applesauce and sliced apples and while moving a large bowl of hot applesauce to the other counter to empty it slipped and went all over my legs, shoes, rug and floor. Luckily it didn't leave burns, but WHAT A MESS TO CLEAN UP!!!!! I surely can tell I'm not in Kansas anymore or that I'm not 35 years old either. I think I dirtied every large pot I own and so after canning, cleaning up mess, washing rug, mopping floor numerous times and washing pots and pans, I'm pooped!! So for the rest of day I'm just going to sit down, watch soap operas and eat my bon bons, ha! I weigh 90 lbs.
